Adelaide Beste’s Home Movies

These are the 16mm movies that Ad took between 1929 and 1964. She added an audio commentary in 1985. When she began, she was in her twenties and single with the whole world before her. The early movies have lots of friends and house parties – and no babies. The later movies turn inward on family life – lots of babies, at the beach, baby birthday parties, old family friends visiting, and so on. Then, when the kids were grown and gone and she divorced Don and changed her life, she stopped.
