Sally’s connection to Three Ledges and Chippewa Bay began in 1965 when she married Harry Bockus and bravely took their combined families of seven children to the river and let them loose. That first year, there was not enough room in the red camp so the three brothers spent the summer in a tent. To accommodate their growing brood (child #8 completed the crew), Sally and Harry built an addition onto the red camp and later Sally oversaw the building of their new camp at the river’s edge by Hunter Grimes. Her heart broke when that camp burned in 1999. Sally’s last visit to the river was in July of 2022 when she delighted in her last boat ride on Chippewa Bay, smiling from ear to ear.
